Catfood schemes

Presently we help cat carers access two different types of food in Johannesburg only:

  • Ultra Feline, which is a very high-quality and well-balanced "vet's food", and which is delivered to a private address in Craighall Park, Johannesburg. We order 15 kg bags on the 2nd of each month, and at the moment the food is priced at R399,13 per bag, which translates to R26,61 per kg.
  • Ideal catfood, which is a medium-quality but well-balanced food, and which is delivered to Randburg, Lonehill and Craighall Park. We order 10 kg bags on the 2nd of each month, and at the moment the food is priced at R203,49 per bag, which works out to R20,35 per kg.

If you would like to participate in the catfood scheme in Johannesburg, please contact Anneke at anneke@ncat.co.za. She could also put you in touch with people ordering Ideal in Pretoria.

What are our objectives?

We have two main objectives:

Primary objective: To help existing cat-care organisations and individuals countrywide do more of what they are already doing.

In other words, we do not care for cats directly ourselves, but aim rather to help those organisations already doing the work to rescue more cats, feed more cats, sterilise more cats, and home more cats.

We do this by providing them not only with funds - which are distributed carefully and systematically - but also by helping them gain access to resources such as information, veterinary services, traps, and catfood.

Secondary objective: To train and employ - and therefore empower - previously disadvantaged individuals, e.g. as feral trappers.
